Mist and Unappeased Spirits was born from a fascination with mystery, folklore, and the unspoken grief of those left behind. Inspired by real-life disappearances on Mount Nyangani, Zimbabwe’s most enigmatic peak, this story explores the delicate balance between science and superstition, love and loss, past and present.

For me, this story is deeply personal. Whilst living in Zimbabwe, I knew people—some close to me—who climbed Mount Nyangani and never returned. Despite massive search efforts, to this day, they remain missing. The mountain holds its secrets tightly, and the grief of those left behind lingers like the mist that cloaks its peaks.

At its heart, this is the story of Ara and William—two people from vastly different worlds whom fate unites but challenges with uncontrollable forces. Their love unfolds amidst a backdrop of ancient spirits, restless myths, and the haunting pull of a mountain that demands to be understood.

But beyond the romance and supernatural elements, Mist and Unappeased Spirits also delves into real-world struggles—grief, addiction, prejudice, and the battle for self-acceptance. As a writer and psychologist, the complexities of the human mind has always fascinated me, and this novel reflects those layers.

Mount Nyangani remains an unsolved mystery, its legends whispered by those who have lost loved ones to its misty embrace. This book is my tribute to them.
